<p><strong>Ten Tips For a Healthy Back</strong></p>
<p>We don&#8217;t often think about our backs until they start to hurt. Back pain is one of the most common medical complaints in the country. Following are ten tips to prevent and maintain a healthy back:</p>
<p>1)LIFT HEAVY ITEMS CORRECTLY. Proper lifting technique involves standing close to the object with your feet apart. Squat down keeping the back in proper alignment (do not hunch  or bend at the waist). As you lift contract your abs and push with your legs.</p>
<p>2)REMAIN FLEXIBLE. Tight hamstrings and a limited range of motion in the trunk can increase your risk of back injury or make existing back pain worse. Certain exercises such as yoga, <a href="http://fitnesshealthtoday.com/taichi" style="font-family:Verdana;color:#000099;" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://fitnesshealthtoday.com/taichi';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">tai chi</a> and Pilates may help <a href="http://fitnesshealthtoday.com/healthyback" style="font-family:Verdana;color:#000099;" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://fitnesshealthtoday.com/healthyback';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">back pain</a> by increasing flexibility and tension. Specific static stretch&#8217;s may help too.</p>
<p>3)MAINTAIN A HEALTHY BODY BODYWEIGHT. Excess weight takes a toll on the whole body and the back is no exception. Try carrying a 25 lb pack on your back and I think you&#8217;ll understand how excess weight can affect back pain and back injury.</p>
<p>4)SUPPORT THE LOWER BACK WHEN SITTING. Use a pillow or rolled towel and slip it behind your lower back while sitting. Every 30 minutes remove the support to give you a change of position. If you&#8217;ve been sitting for a long period of time, don&#8217;t just jump up and move. Get up slowly and walk around to give your back a break.</p>
<p>5)STRENGTHEN THE ABDOMINAL, BACK  AND CORE MUSCLES. First, you need to strengthen the abs and lower back. Then you need to strengthen the rest of the core The core is made up of many more muscles than the abs and back. A strong core will protect your back and make all your other activities easier to perform.</p>
<p>6)MAINTAIN GOOD POSTURE. Improper body alignment plays a strong role in causing back pain due to the pressure it puts on the discs and the strain it places on the muscles, joints and ligaments. When you have good posture your body moves in alignment and back pain and injury are reduced.</p>
<p>7)WARM-UP BEFORE ACTIVITY. Cold muscles and cold joints put any <a href="http://fitnesshealthtoday.com/leanmuscle" style="font-family:Verdana;color:#000099;" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://fitnesshealthtoday.com/leanmuscle';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">muscle</a> or joint at risk for injury. Take time to warm-up, and you&#8217;ll reduce the risk of back pain and injury.</p>
<p>8)STRENGTHEN THE LEG MUSCLES. Along with the core muscles, the lower body plays an important role in assisting good posture and body mechanics. Strong leg muscles will also take some of the burden off your back when you are lifting heavy objects.</p>
<p>9)REDUCE STRESS. Stress increases tension in all our muscles including the back. This tension can cause pain. Take some time to do a little relaxation work to let that tension dissipate or try a yoga, Pilates or <a href="http://fitnesshealthtoday.com/taichi" style="font-family:Verdana;color:#000099;" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://fitnesshealthtoday.com/taichi';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">tai chi</a> class.</p>
<p>10)CHECK OUT YOUR MATTRESS. Because we spend a good time in bed a good mattress is a good investment. An ill fitting mattress most certainly can cause back pain</p>

<p><strong>What is Spinal Touch Therapy?</strong></p>
<p>Have you noticed that your back hurts or you are feeling strains in certain muscles that you didn’t before?  Your body may be out of line with your center of gravity.  To put everything back into proper alignment, you might want to try spinal touch therapy.<br />

Spinal touch therapy is an non-invasive alternative therapy.  It is used to return your body to a natural state that will make you feel better.</strong>  </p>
<p>Before we go further, here are a few words about your body and the earth.  Our bodies are meant to be in line with the universe, and in particular, the Earth.  Gravity is the force that holds us on the Earth.  To function properly, your body must remain in alignment along your center of gravity.  The center of gravity is where your body is in a state where the spine is aligned, your pelvis is tilted to the correct position and all of your muscles are relaxed.  </p>

<p>Without pain, spinal touch therapy uses gentle pressure to return the spine to its normal axis and your muscles to their relaxed state when you are not exerting them. The spinal touch therapist needs to view your body while you are standing straight up (as straight as you can) next to a visual marker representing an aligned spine. <p>Once you lay down, the treatment will begin.  Most of the pressure is concentrated along the spine, pelvic region and along the buttocks. <p><span style="font-weight:bold;">What is Sciatica?</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight:bold;">Sciatica is an inflammation of the sciatic nerve, the largest nerve in the body.  The nerve can become trapped by a bulging disc and cause severe pain in the lower back, buttocks and lower legs.</span></p>

It sounds like a foreign food dish but it is actually a painful condition of the body.  Here, the mystery is unraveled.</p>
<p>Actually, the mystery is not so complicated.  <a href="http://fitnesshealthtoday.com/healthyback" style="font-family:Verdana;color:#000099;" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://fitnesshealthtoday.com/healthyback';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">Sciatica</a> is a condition of the sciatic nerve in the body.  <a href="http://f041c5wxsigmlu840gq7ugwo0o.hop.clickbank.net/?tid=SCIATICA">The sciatic nerve</a> is the largest nerve in the body and it runs from the lower (lumbar region) spine down through the buttocks and the lower leg.  When a person feels pain or discomfort in their sciatic nerve it can radiate from the lower back all the way to their toes.</p>

<p>Have you ever been walking and it seems like your leg just gives out?  That is a problem with your sciatic nerve.  It is a strange phenomenon that happens a lot when a woman is in the later months of pregnancy and the baby is getting very big.</p>

The most common cause is a problem with the vertebral column.</span>  A disc herniation can occur at the level of the spine where the sciatic nerve originates. <p>Just like with a pregnant mother, too much pressure on the sciatic nerve impairs your ability to walk.  If you have sciatica you shouldn’t walk carrying heavy objects or a small child, as there’s a danger of your leg giving way and you could fall.  Sitting down can be painful for a person suffering from sciatica.  Lying straight seems to bring the only relief.</p>
<p>Most don’t go to the doctor at first.  Pain in the leg could have a number of causes.  But, when the pain persists in the same area it’s time to see someone.  Be sure to tell the doctor everything you have been experiencing so that they can diagnose you correctly.  The doctor will also examine you and do a medical history.  X-rays might be required.</p>
<p><span style="font-weight:bold;">Once the sciatica is diagnosed you have <a href="http://f041c5wxsigmlu840gq7ugwo0o.hop.clickbank.net/?tid=SCIATICA">treatment options.</a>  Medication will alleviate the pain and inflammation but the misalignment of the spine has to be dealt with so you don’t experience a lifetime of painkillers.  This could be a chiropractic intervention or a surgical one if that doesn’t help.</p>

<p>You may have heard many things about chiropractic care over the years.  It is a branch of the medical profession that deals with the spine and vertebrae of the back.  <span style="font-weight:bold;">It is believed that many of the pains that we have in our back are due to problems with alignment in this area.</span></p>
<p>Maybe you’ve never thought about it, but the spine and its vertebral housing are major parts of your body.  What if you looked at one of those goofy skeletons on Halloween and the backbone was missing?  It wouldn’t look like a skeleton &#8211; only a pile of disconnected bones.  The vertebrae are there for support, and the spine to supply the nerves that connect to the organs and tissues of your body.</p>

Chiropractic physicians believe that many of the ailments of the body arise from misalignment of the spine and framework of the body.
