Healthy Smoothies
Smoothies are drinks typically blends of fresh fruits and, less often, with vegetables and other super foods added in. Normally it is a pretty thick beverage with common ingredients being berries, citrus fruits, apples, and with even healthier versions, spinach, cucumbers, lettuce, and even zucchini tossed in. Vegetables make smoothies even healthier for you by reducing the sugar to nutrient ratio while contributing their own massive nutrient supply as well. Milk and yoghurt are also commonly used. Some of the less healthy options may also contain sugar and ice cream. Other ingredient choices include healthy oils such as macadamia oil.
Smoothies can be a very healthy and balanced drink, or even serve as meal replacers. It gives a number of health benefits to youngsters as well as adults. It is even considered to be healthier than fruit juice. This is due to the fact that a smoothie supplies all-natural fiber to the body from the whole fruit which a juice doesn’t. This natural fiber keeps the digestive system of the body in working perfect order. Moreover, a smoothie also keeps the body hydrated because of its high water content. It also offers the necessary amount of nutrition to the body in the form of nutrients like vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
A smoothie keeps you energetic throughout the day by providing energy to the body. It also keeps the mind alert and lively by providing it nutrition in the form of fructose. Fructose is a form of healthy sugar found in fruits. A smoothie also raises the immune function of the body and shields the body from falling prey to various types of infections and illness.
Moreover, a smoothie also keeps your skin supple and clear. A smoothie containing milk, youghurt or brocolli supplies the necessary amount of calcium for strong bones and teeth. A smoothie containing oil offers the necessary quantity of fats essential for the proper functioning of the body.
So do yourself a favor. Have a glass of smoothie when you wake up before heading out the door. It’s so simple to make that there’s just no excuse to not do it. If you don’t have a good blender yet, the best smoothie blender is definitely the Blendtec. Toss in whatever produce you want with very little chopping. Flip the switch, and in 30 seconds, you have breakfast ready to go. Toss in a handful of spinach leaves and a tablespoon or two of a healthy fat like coconut oil, and you’ve got a complete meal in a glass.
