The Link Between Eczema And Asthma Relief

Eczema is a skin disease that covers a number of different skin ailments, from atopic dermatitis (an allergic type reaction) to dyshidrotic eczema (a blistering rash on the palms of hands and soles of the feet often caused by stress). Studies show that 50 – 70 % of all young children who develop severe eczema will go on to suffer from asthma possibly months or even years later. However, research scientists at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis have discovered that treating eczema early can help stop the development of asthma. Their studies have shown that damaged skin secretes a substance that circulates through the body and triggers asthma symptoms. Treating the rash early is vital in asthma prevention and for those who already suffer from asthma, it could also prove beneficial for asthma relief.

Eczema is an itching rash that effects the epidermis or outer layer of the your skin. It is easily irritated and when scratched it can also become quite painful and inflamed. The rash can be mild to very severe often consisting of blisters, swelling, redness, dry flakey skin, cracking, crusting, and extreme itchiness. When the rash is scratched there is often oozing or even bleeding in more severe cases. Scratching results in worsening of the rash and therefore it is to be avoided. Doctors will often prescribe corticosteroids drugs to treat eczema. Unfortunately, these drugs are not a cure, they create dependence and have many negative side effects and they eventually weaken the adrenal gland plus cause thinning of the skin. The good news is that there are effective ways to treat eczema naturally without drugs.

Doctors and scientists suspect that there are likely two causes as to why eczema is associated with asthma. One is that an immune system disorder causes an overreaction to allergens that contact the skin and lung airways. The other may be that defective skin and airways trigger an excessive immune response.

Whatever the actual cause may be, holistic medicine has shown that boosting the immune system and the adrenal glands through proper diet, vitamins, adequate rest and exercise is paramount. There are also many herbal creams and natural treatments that help calm the rash, offer relief from itching and also prevent the sufferer from scratching. In this way they are very helpful in slowing the cycle of eczema to prevent the damaged skin secreting the substance that triggers asthma symptoms.

Eczema Natural Treatments – Stop The Itching Naturally

When you hear the word “treatment,” you instantly associate the term to a technique – tested or untested – which eradicates a medical condition that one is suffering from. In acute or short-term conditions such as infections, treatments may hold up to that expectation. Then again, when you are dealing with a chronic condition that is bound to be permanent, a treatment can no longer live up to this expectation of completely eradicating the disease from your life. Under this perspective, a treatment is merely a means to manage the symptoms of a condition so that you can live as comfortably as possible.

Eczema is one of the many chronic conditions that afflict mankind. Hence, an eczema treatment cannot treat the condition itself. But an eczema treatment can treat the symptoms associated with it. This means that every time your eczema flares up and causes rashes to appear on your skin, you are left with no other choice but to use eczema treatments each and every time. Eczema ointment, ecream, and eczema medication are just some of the standard treatments of choice for an eczema rash. But eczema natural treatments go thrice the distance that these standard eczema treatments are capable of because aside from being able to treat eczema symptoms, they can also prevent eczema and relieve you from the intense and uncomfortable itchiness of the rashes.

It is true. Eczema natural treatments can do so much better than the more widely accepted standard eczema treatments. However, not all eczema natural treatments are able to do these three functions of preventing, treating, and providing relief from eczema. While there are some that can do all these three altogether, some can only serve two purposes at most – either treating or preventing or preventing and relieving. Even with this, they are still better than regular eczema treatments which are limited to treating an eczema rash.

Among the natural treatments which prevent, treat, and provide relief from eczema are Evening Primrose oil and the eczema diet. Evening Primrose oil is just one of the many oils helpful for eczema. It is taken as a supplement along with your regular meals. The active ingredients of this supplemental oil are gammalinolenic acid and linoleic acid. Evening Primrose oil is known as an effective treatment for eczema when taken along with food for a three month time period. When it comes to its capability to reduce itching, it can do so during the course of treatment by getting rid of the dry rashes which cause the skin to become irritated and itchy. Concerning prevention, Evening Primrose oil is able to prevent eczema by moisturizing the skin and preventing the dryness which can make you susceptible to skin irritation.

The eczema diet is also another natural treatment capable of preventing and treating eczema with the addition of relieving the itchiness of its rashes. Above everything else, the eczema diet consists of organic foods that can restore the health of the skin after an eczema flare up. This endows the eczema diet with the ability to treat eczema rashes. Secondly, the eczema diet is also high in fiber. The fiber in this diet gets rid of anything unwanted that has accumulated in the body (which are believed to trigger eczema, by the way). By doing this, the diet can help prevent eczema. Third, the diet is known to improve overall health, including skin health. For this reason, dry skin is helped and relief from itching can be undergone. Fourth and last, the eczema diet also excludes any food you may be allergic to and this could help prevent your eczema from recurring.

Eczema natural treatments are definitely remarkable, surpassing the expectations of the masses when it comes to the scope of what a treatment is. When choosing between natural and standard eczema treatments, it is definitely wiser to choose the ones which exceed your expectations of eczema treatments.

Treating Psoriasis: Is There Another Option?

Psoriasis is not contagious but it is still an unsightly disease that needs treatment. This is a skin disorder that affects human beings. Most of the people afflicted with this disease wear long sleeves to hide the ugly red marks. It is not uncommon for people to show Psoriasis wherever there is a large patch of dry skin like the back or the upper arms.

Origins of the Disease?

The immune system malfunctioning could lead to Psoriasis. In essence, the body is too weak to manage the build up of skin cells because of the faulty immune system. When scaly skin patches appear on top of existing patches, reddening of the skin and patchiness happens. Psoriasis can affect the elbows and knees, where the skin is unusually dry even in normal individuals. Silvery white clumps of skin cover these areas.

Psoriasis that results in skin plaques? The most common form of Psoriasis is characterized by plaques on various regions all over the body.

Frequent Flare Ups and Treatment

Moisturizing the regions affected by the disorder may relieve some of the itchiness but this is a chronic recurring condition so further treatment is needed. The cause of Psoriasis may be genetic in nature so you won’t be able to stop it unless you really take care of your skin. Stay away from stress. Flare ups are more common for agitated individuals.

Sometimes, extreme environmental conditions may trigger Psoriasis. If you are at risk of developing this disease, you need to protect yourself from the elements more.

Some people manifest symptoms monthly, while others don’t remember the last time the disorder was evident on their body. As long as you eat a good diet, you exercise and your lifestyle is clean, you can rest assured that you won’t be suffering from the symptoms of Psoriasis in the near future.

Moisturization is the key to keeping the symptoms at bay. When you bathe, make sure the stuff you use are all hypoallergenic. Plenty of skin moisture and healthy skin in general may help you fend off the symptoms longer. There are also a number of Psoriasis home remedies that a person can find online.

Go out in the early morning and soak up the morning sunlight. Although you probably want to hide your patches of red or scaly skin, it is best to expose the affected area to sunlight on a daily basis. This can be difficult for those who are so embarrassed about the unsightly patches of skin that they only want to hide their arms and legs.
